Filósofo,
Lancasteriano, epónimo de infinitas generaciones estudiantiles.

Desde
la obra de los discípulos y criterios de sus apreciaciones es que se puede
calibrar el perfil de sus maestros.
Cúmplase
este precepto en la camada de educados formado por Feliz Román Duque Morales a quien hemos llamado Maestro insigne de externas generaciones.
Nacido
en la grita (Edo. Táchira) un 28 de febrero de 1871, va recibir de parte de sus
padres: Don Julián Duque y Doña Filomena Morales: una educación hogareña
apegada a los principios y valores religiosos, así como, a una mesurada
educación relativa y a la moral y cívica ciudadana .
Lecciones
familiares que serán fortalecidas por sus grandes maestros, entre ellos:
Monseñor Jáuregui.
Precisamente,
este prelado, y educadores de la época ,
siembran ideales formativos fusionados a la filosofía del educador ingles Jhon
Lancaster, según la cual, en la escuela
deben forjarse generaciones estudiantiles apto para ser a su
vez “maestro emprendedores”, es decir, multiplicadores del proceso educativo.
En
cierto modo, coincidente esta teoría, con la manifestada Don Simón Rodríguez
del “aprender haciendo” y “el construir motivando al discípulo”, a
través de la creación. Ideales muy bien entronizados por Félix Román, quien a
escaso 19 años inicia sus labores como ilustre educador en una escuela privada
en San José de Bolívar ( 1890), luego en el cobre y el Colegio Sagrado Corazón
de Jesús, el cual fuera fundado por su ilustrísimo maestro, el eminente levita
Monseñor Jesús Manuel Jáuregui Moreno. Como político, el distrito la Grita lo
nombra como representante ante la Asamblea Legislativa del Estado Táchira hasta
el 1 de mayo de 1911. Ese mismo año, es traído a Zea, donde comienza residir e
impartir sus exigentes conocimientos en el colegio “Santo Tomas de Aquino” más
tarde denominado colegio Duque, en honor
su fundador. Esta pequeña población, inicia así, una nueva y
significativa era pedagógica bajo la mirada sabia, ansiosa, recta, ética,
académica y justa del excelso maestro.
De ese
conglomerados de alumno que revieran sus enseñanzas – hasta la hora de su
muerte- aquel sombrío 1042-, quedan para la gloria de las letras locales,
regionales y nacionales, su inmortales discípulos: Alberto Adriani –primer
ministro de agricultura de Venezuela- autor del libro LABOR VENEZOLANISTA-,
Rafael Ángel Rondón Márquez- refinado intelectual , autor de Guzmán Blanco y El
Liberalismo Amarillo-, José Rondón Vega insigne educador, cuyo nombre quedo
para la historia en los anales educativos zedeños, en la institución que lleva
su epónimo.
Trilogía de educandos, inmortales, quienes
reconocieron en Don Félix Román Duque, a su maestro formador más trascendente.
Sus
fulgurantes lecciones pedagógicas, profundas, reflexivas, lancasterianas; les
permitieron constituirse en seres útiles a la patria, con espíritu de
autoconciencia, progreso y transparencia socio/cognitiva. Espacios bajo la
insignia de su perfil.
Habiendo
transcurrido 7 años, después dela dolorosa muerte de tan ejemplar maestro (acaecida el 23 de mayo de 1942), el
Antiguo Colegio Federal de Tovar
antes llamado también “Miranda”), va a cambiar de epónimo por el de Don
Félix Román Duque, a partir de aquel 15 de septiembre de 1949, es decir, hace
56 años, como homenaje póstumo a su meritoria labor.
La
evolución denominativa del mismo de acurdo a modelos sucesivos en los nuevos
programas y proyectos educacionales gubernamentales lo conllevaron a ser:
Liceo, Ciclo Básico Común, Escuela Básica y recientemente Unidad Educativa; con
una posible conversión a Escuela Técnica o Liceo Bolivariano.
Múltiple
han sido las generaciones estudiantiles que han pasado por sus aulas, directivos,
docentes, obreros, personal administrativo; algunos de los cuales yacen en lo
mármoles de tanatorios para la eternidad.
Paralelamente
a esta denominación, existen otras instituciones que llevan el mismo nombre
alusivo a la memoria de Don Félix en: Zea (su segunda
cuna), Mérida, Lagunillas y Bailadores. (Liceo nocturno dependiente del código del
existente en Tovar).

Seven years after the painful death of such an
exemplary teacher (May 23, 1942), the Antiguo Colegio Federal de Tovar
(formerly known as "Miranda") will change its name to Don Félix Román
Duque, as of September 15, 1949.
The denominative evolution of the same according to
successive models in the new programs and projects governmental educational led
it to be: High School, Common Basic Cycle, Basic School and recently
Educational Unit; with a possible conversion to Technical School or Bolivarian
High School.
Many have been the generations of students who have
passed through its classrooms, directors, teachers, workers, administrative
personnel; some of whom lie in the funerary marbles for eternity.
Parallel to this
denomination, there are other institutions that bear the same name alluding to
the memory of Don Felix such as Zea (his second birthplace), Merida, Lagunillas
and Bailadores (Liceo nocturno dependent on the code existing in Tovar).
