La
Banda Seca / Show Gral. José María Méndez, ya no le pertenece solo al Liceo
Bolivariano Félix Román Duque, sino que es patrimonio del municipio Tovar, por
su intensa actividad musical sin importar la época del año”. Cuando el Prof.
Mario Valero, Fundador y primer director de esta organización musical en el año
1979; pudo consolidar este sueño de una colectividad estudiantil y comunitaria,
nunca imagino que se iba a fortalecer y perdurar durante tanto tiempo. Sin duda
alguna, la Banda Show ha marcado un hito importante en el acervo cultural y
musical en todo el Valle del Mocotíes.
Ese
grupo de estudiantes que inicio esta travesía, labro en un campo difícil, pero
lograron obtener muchos éxitos y satisfacciones, no solo para los integrantes
sino para una ciudad donde constantemente se produce la organización de actividades colectivas de todo tipo que
fortalecer el acervo cultural del Valle del Mocoties.
Con la
llegada del Lcdo. Juan Ramón Suarez en el año 1984,-insigne, músico, escritor,
maestro, y ferviente luchador cultural tovareño, se inicia una nueva etapa en
la Banda Show, que la consolida como la mejor y más constante de todo el
municipio Tovar.
Durante
22 años de labor ininterrumpida, el Lcdo. Juan Ramón Suarez lucho con un grupo
de adolescente y jóvenes entre los que destacan : Jhoanny Parra, Rolando
Pereira, Dixon Soto, Los morochos Parra, Yohana Pereira, Darwins Izarra, James Dávila,
Richard Dávila, Marinelly Ramírez, Carlos Pino, Kimberlyn Flores, entre muchos
otros, quienes lograron llevar a la cúspide a este movimiento musical que hizo
su metamorfosis de banda marcial a Banda Show deleitando a toda la comunidad
con sus arreglos musicales, y las coreografías de un grupo de féminas, que
asombra a propios y extraños con sus movimientos y bailes acompañados con las
interpretaciones musicales.
Desde
el año 2007, esta institución armónica, es asumida por el Lic. Cherry Zambrano,
quien viene a brindar nuevas ideas y produce mayor apertura y participación. Se
profundiza la participación de niñas y niños adolescentes y jóvenes, no solo
del Liceo Bolivariano Feliz Román Duque sino que también se da la presencia
nacida de otras instituciones del Tovar (E.B. Coronel A. Rangel; E.B. Monseñor
Chacón, Colegio Fe y Alegría, Colegio la Presentación, Liceo Nuceti Sardi, U.E.
Adultos por Radio, L.B. Eutimio Rivas-Municipio Antonio Pinto Salinas, E.B. Monseñor
Moreno, ULA, UNEFA, entre otras).
La
fusión de jóvenes con experiencia y la presencia de nuevos talentos, está
haciendo que se logre forjar un movimiento musical que realzara la tovareñidad
en todo el Estado y cada vez sea más intensa la presencia de la Banda Show en
todos los espacios culturales, deportivos, educativos, como religiosas y
sociales de nuestro terruño Tovar. Los municipios adyacentes, zona del Sur del
Lago y Norte del Edo. Táchira.
La
Banda Show General José María Méndez, también se ha convertido en una
institución Escuela, ya que ha fomentado la creación de otras bandas musicales,
como la Banda Show del Rio Negro de la parroquia Rio Negro del municipio
Guaraque, quienes han contado con la presencia de varios integrantes de la banda
de Tovar para consolidar un sueño grande de los pueblos del Sur merideño, la
creación de una institución que amenice las actividades culturales organizada
en esta bella región del estado Mérida; y algunos de los ex integrantes ahora
son directores de otros bandas del municipio del estado , o forman parte de
agrupaciones musicales, bailables de gran popularidad entre la comunidad.
A
través de los años, esta organización musical ha recibido donaciones
económicas, así como de instrumentos
musicales tanto de entes gubernamentales como casas comerciales de Tovar, a
todos ellos muchas gracias por convertir esta banda en una verdadera Banda
Show, siendo actualmente un Patrimonio
Musical del municipio Tovar.

The Banda Seca / Banda Show Gral. José María Méndez belongs not
only to the Liceo Bolivariano Félix Román Duque but also it is a heritage of
the municipality of Tovar for its intense musical activity regardless of the
time of the year. When Prof. Mario Valero, founder and first director of this
musical organization in 1979, was able to consolidate this dream of a student
and community collective, he never imagined that it would grow stronger and
last for so long. Undoubtedly, the Show Band has marked an important milestone
in the cultural and musical heritage of the entire Mocotíes Valley.
This group of students started this journey with many
difficulties, but managed to achieve many successes and satisfactions, not only
for the members but also for a city where constantly occurs the organization of
collective activities of all kinds that strengthen the cultural heritage of the
Mocoties Valley.
With the arrival of Juan Ramón Suárez in 1984, an outstanding musician, writer, teacher and fervent cultural fighter from Tovar, a new stage began in the Banda Show, consolidating it as the best and most constant in the municipality of Tovar. During 22 years of uninterrupted work, he fought with a group of teenagers and young people such as stand out : Jhoanny Parra, Rolando Pereira, Dixon Soto, Los Morochos Parra, Yohana Pereira, Darwins Izarra, James Davila, Richard Davila, Marinelly Ramirez, Carlos Pino, Kimberlyn Flores, among others, who managed to bring to the top this musical movement that made its metamorphosis from martial band to Show Band delighting the entire community with their musical arrangements, and the choreography of a group of women, which amazes friends and strangers with their movements and their dances accompanied with the musical interpretations.
Since 2007, this harmonious institution was under the
direction of Mr. Cherry Zambrano, who came to bring new ideas and produces
greater openness and participation. The participation of children, adolescents
and young people deepens not only from the Liceo Bolivariano Feliz Román Duque
but also from other institutions of Tovar such as E.B. Coronel A. Rangel; E.B.
Monseñor Chacón, Colegio Fe y Alegría, Colegio la Presentación, Liceo Nuceti
Sardi, U.E. Adultos por Radio, L.B. Eutimio Rivas-Municipio Antonio Pinto
Salinas, E.B. Monseñor Moreno, ULA, UNEFA, among others.
The fusion of young people with experience and the presence
of new talents is making possible to forge a musical movement that it will
enhance the tovareñidad throughout the state and it is increasingly intense the
presence of the Band Show in all cultural, sporting, educational, religious and
social spaces of our homeland Tovar, the adjacent municipalities, area of South
Lake and North of Táchira State.
The Banda Show General José María Méndez has also
become a school institution, since it has encouraged the creation of other musical
bands such as Banda Show de el Rio Negro in the municipality of Guaraque, who
have counted with the presence of several members of the Tovar band to
consolidate a big dream of the people of the South of Merida that is the
creation of an institution that entertains the cultural activities organized in
this beautiful region of Merida state; and some of the former members are now
directors of other bands in the municipality of the state or they are part of
musical groups, dances of great popularity among the community.
Throughout the years, this musical organization has
received economic donations, as well as musical instruments from both
governmental entities and commercial stores of Tovar. Thanks them for turning
this band into a real Show Band, being currently it a Musical Heritage of the
municipality Tovar.
